The purpose of this study was to test the Demand-Control Model (DCM), accompanied by three goals. Firstly, we used alternative, more focused, and multifaceted measures of both job demands and job control that are relevant and applicable to today's working contexts.

The theory shows how work demands can lead to stress for workers. These work demands include work-associated strain, task ambiguity, and heavy workload. The Demand Control model aims to evaluate the occupational stress. This study aimed to know, through an integrative review of the literature, the scientific production about the Demand Control Model to investigation occupational stress among nursing professionals from 2000 to 2011.Of the 16 selected studies, five were published in 2009. Demand-Control Model 271 should not be treated as stressors per se.

A misfit between level of control and individual coping style intensified the stress‐enhancing effect of job demands. Job Demand Control (JDC) model was given by a scholar of industrial sociology named Karasek in1979. This model is mainly focused on the stress that employees face in their occupation. Stress is one ofthe most serious work hazards of the Present times (Darley & Parfitt, 1996; Jamal 7 Baba 1992).

The last dimension of the Demand-control model to be able to evaluate the psychosocial work.

The demand/control model of Karasek and Theorell was validated in this setting with respect to stress and some stress-associated attitudes and behaviors. Job types with high demand and low control were associated with increased stress, increased absenteeism, and poorer self-concept of health. The model was subsequently extended to consider support at work: the demand-control-support, or DCS model. Work characterized by high demands, low decision latitude, and low support decreases health and well-being. Karasek’s dynamic model of job strain (adapted from (3). Criticism of the Job Demand-Control and Job Demand-Control-Support modelsThe JDC model as developed initially by Karasek was later enriched with the addition of social support by Johnson and Hall (1988). Yet studies have found limitations in both the JDC model (Karasek, 1979) and the JDCS model (Johnson & Hall, 1988;Karasek & Theorell, 1990).

However, the models also differ. The effort/reward imbalance model includes a measure of coping ability (need for control) which has no counterpart in the demand/control model.
